Red shoes please

I was a young girl. My dad was working in two different jobs. We had everything we needed but not extras. It was fine. I didn't want anything else or felt poor. I needed new shoes for school and my mom wanted me to take something I can use for other places too, something that will fit any place or event. Her choice was black I think, or maybe white. I said "I want the red shoes please". She looked at me, maybe thought of herself as a child (she had beautiful clothes and shoes as one) and took the red shoes for me. It was my first fashion statement, I believe. Thank you mom! I love you!
